Established by Patrick, “PJ,” and Amy Mead, Compass Seafood has been shipping fresh, locally sourced, and select imported seafood across North America and to Japan, year-round since 2005.
We have a uniquely hands-on approach.
Every fish is graded in-person by the owner or another highly experienced bluefin tuna buyer. We employ seafood professionals who are experienced in both bluefin tuna purchasing and fishing.
Collectively we have over 100 years of experience in seafood purchasing, fishing, processing, and shipping.
We have extensive experience and knowledge, and intimate understanding of customer needs, the market, and exchange rates.
This enables us to identify the best market for, and quickly and efficiently process and ship, each and every fish.
Our proximity to Boston’s Logan Airport and three major trucking depots allows us to get fish to market as quickly as possible, so we can ensure the freshest product.
We deeply value our relationships with our fishers and are committed to transparency and prompt payment.
Our Story
PJ and Amy Mead began working in the seafood Industry in the port of Galilee, RI in 1990.
In 1994, PJ began traveling the world, purchasing Bluefin Tuna; he has worked purchasing fish in Italy, France, Malta, the Azores, Atlantic Canada, and the east coast of the USA.
In April of 2005, after many years of working in the seafood industry, PJ and Amy, recognizing an opportunity to apply their unique skills and expertise, established Compass Seafood LLC.
